Safety & safeguarding

Your safety is paramount.

SEN Village is built for peer support between adults who understand SEN family life. The app is closed to guests, reports are reviewed by our team, and independent parent reports can trigger automatic action when concerns repeat.

Low report thresholds

When families report the same post or person, the community helps us act.

Noticeboard posts

We use a low repeat-report threshold. When several independent parents report the same notice, it can be removed automatically from the board, as well as reviewed by our team.

Every report is reviewed. Low thresholds add automatic protection when multiple families raise the same concern.

Community design

  • Members only. Registration is required before any app content is shown. There is no guest browsing.
  • Adults 18+. For parents, guardians, carers, and authorised organisation representatives only.
  • Organisations kept out of Village. Peer matching stays family-to-family. Charities and support providers reach families through the Noticeboard instead.

Reporting

  • Report people and posts. Flag users or notices that feel unsafe, misleading, or inappropriate.
  • Notice reporting. Families can report Noticeboard posts, not just accounts.
  • Team review. Our moderators review reports and can restrict or suspend accounts at any time.

Keeping the tone right

  • Language filters. Built-in checks help discourage swearing and unwanted tone in profiles, messages, and Noticeboard posts.
  • Anti-spam on the Noticeboard. Credits and posting filters reduce drive-by spam so notices stay purposeful and community-led.

Your controls

  • Pause discovery. Take a break from Village matching any time from privacy settings.
  • Privacy you choose. Control who can see child-related details and how you appear to other families.
  • Peer support only. Not medical, legal, or emergency advice.

When to use the app, and when to call for help

Use in-app Report for concerns about behaviour, content, or someone on the platform. Our team reviews these reports and can restrict accounts or remove notices.

  • 999 If you believe a child or adult is in immediate danger.
  • NSPCC For safeguarding concerns that are not an emergency, contact the police or NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.

SEN Village is not an emergency service.

What we are building next

We are investing in stronger safeguarding over time, including AI-assisted scanning to help spot risky content earlier, optional 18+ identity checks, and moderated images on notices before they are published.
